From the moment that you enter the McGuires establishment, you know that this will be a unique dining experience. Perhaps the first thing you might notice is that there are a lot of one-dollar bills everywhere! Visitors have signed them and they are stapled or taped to every conceivable surface. The owners report that there are more than $1,000,000 on display, signed by Irishmen of all nationalities. I am sure they will find room for one more when you add yours.
The atmosphere or theme is of a New York Irish Saloon, complete with live entertainment in the evenings. Just be prepared to participate in the evening's festivities. I bet you won't be able to resist joining in and singing with the crowd. And don't be afraid to kiss the moose...
During the daytime, they play a music track with a lot of traditional Irish music. What would a saloon be without beer? Well, McGuire's is also a micro-brewery and they brew five regular beers and a seasonal selection. They also make a very popular draft root beer served right out of the keg! That is my favorite lunchtime beverage when I visit there during workdays.
They have won dozens of pretigious awards, such as the "Golden Spoon Award" (since 1994), "Top 10 Restaurants in Florida", "Best Steaks in Florida", "Best Pub in Florida", "One of the South's Finest (and most fun) Dining Establishments" and "Synonymous with Good Times and Good Food"
In addition to tremendous steaks, they serve traditional Irish fare, such as corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, rosemary scented Irish lamb stew and many other Irish specialties. They are also really skilled at preparing seafood dishes. All these choices are great, but I have zeroed in on their burgers. They have more than 25 varieties of their monstrous 3/4 pound gourmet steak burger. My favorite is the "Big Daddy Burger" with Bacon, Cheddar & Jalapeno! Their appetizer menu is robust, but our favorite is the Nathan McGuire's Supreme Nachos. Sits about 10 inches tall and is so loaded with goodies that they spread a large cloth napkin under it to catch the inevitable morsels that seem to jump off your tortilla/fork and onto the table!
